The Contact Office is Saxony's official information centre for the population and the media when it comes to the subject of wolves, playing the central role in public relations work within the scope of Saxony's wolf management plan.
The contact office was established by the Saxon Ministry of the Environment and Agriculture (SMUL) and the former administrative district of Lower Silesian Upper Lusatia at the Erlichthof settlement in Rietschen (Saxony / Lusatia) in 2004 to provide information and education on wolves. Since the administrative district reform in August 2008, the contact office has been operated by the administrative district of Görlitz. The contact office processes all the information from the fields of wolf monitoring (scientific data acquisition) and livestock protection to make this accessible to the public. We also publish information actively on our own. Our staff is in close contact with the LUPUS - German Institute for Wolf Monitoring and Research and Mr André Klingenberger from Saxony's Sachsenforst government enterprise. The information handled by us is published in the form of press releases, leaflets, exhibitions and lectures, on information stands and on our website.
