Since 2002 there have been attacks of wolves on livestock time and again in the Free State of Saxony. So far there is no trend that would suggest that the number of livestock losses is steadily increasing relative to the growing wolf population. Whenever wolves establish themselves in a new territory, the number of attacks rises there initially as a rule. Over time, however, the number of attacks usually decreases with the animal keepers' adaptation to the new situation.
