Development wolf population in Saxony

Chronology of recolonisation of wolves in Saxony

All the data acquired within the scope of the wolf monitoring plan are summarised and evaluated once a year. A year here means the wolf's biological year, namely from the birth of the pups to the end of their first year of life. A monitoring year thus runs from 1 May to 30 April of the following calendar year.

Explanation of the territory maps:

The blue circles/ovals depict the territories of the resident single wolves resp. wolf pairs resp. wolf packs in the Free State of Saxony. Wolf territories depicted with dashed lines only have a small part of their territory in Saxony, because of which they are counted to the bordering countries.

Shaded areas depict regions where several wolf evidences where found but the status remains unclear.
